The History From The Tradition Of Samadhi

Some Insightful Excerpts From Zuiken's Writing (The Sounds of Horai):

1. The tragedy of Rajagriha depicted in the Contemplation Sutra is recorded in the human history. However, Amida Buddha (similarly Bodhisattva Dharmakara) is no doubt not part of the human history as some people may like to make it a point to attack Shinshu. However, there is Samadhi in Buddhism and Samadhi has its history, this is called “the history from the tradition of Samadhi.” It’s through Amida Samadhi that Sakyamuni Buddha became one with Amida Buddha and expounded the Primal Vow. That’s part of “the history from the tradition of Samadhi.” The Flower Adornment Sutra was also expounded when Sakyamuni Buddha was in sagara-mudra-samadhi. The base of Jodo Shinshu is the Ocean of Vows of Great Wisdom of Amida Tathagata which is beyond history.
2. The Mahayana Suttas were expounded in Samadhi, unlike Theravada suttas. Also, the Mahayana teaching is the truth above the human science.
3. Jodo Shinshu is a teaching arising out of the realms of Buddha-wisdom. This is called the "Dharma-door revealed from the fruit of enlightenment. " Shinshu is a Buddhist teaching arising from the Buddha-wisdom that accords with "emptiness" and "no-self" (suchness/ ultimate reality). Ultimate reality and suchness are the realms of Buddha-wisdom.
4. Higher-rank bodhisattvas also perform their various dharmic activities through samadhi. And, if you know of the present of samadhi you would not be bothered and question about the world history as to the origin of a religion.
